Four-body problem in the unitary two-component Fermi system and its application to 4th virial expansion"

Abstract

In recent ultracold atom experiments, the equation of state of the unitary Fermi gas has been precisely measured, and the virial expansion has been successfully applied to characterize its high temperature behavior.

While the experimentally observed 3rd order virial coefficient agrees excellently with its theoretical prediction, there has been clear discrepancy for the 4th order virial coefficient.

I will present our work to theoretically calculate the 4th order virial coefficient by solving the 4-body problem analytically. I compare our result with the experimentally observed 4th order virial coefficient and also with other theoretical values. Using our analytical solution of the 4-body problem, we also answer whether the four-body Efimov effect can occur in a mass-imbalanced 2-component Fermi system.

In the last part of my talk, I will also briefly talk about another work : how to realize a stable quantum phase composed of trimers in the mass-imbalanced 2-component Fermi gas.
