Abstract :

High density samples of cold and ultracold molecules are expected to find groundbreaking scientific and technological applications in fields including quantum information, high-precision spectroscopy, quantum controlled chemistry and the test of some physical constants [1]. To tackle these goals first one needs to properly understand the dynamical behavior of the colliding partners as a function of the influence of an external field.

In this regard, here results for the collision O2(3Σg-) -O2(3Σg-) collision dynamics are presented in the presence of an external magnetic field in the cold and ultracold regime [2]. In particular, two different Potential Energy Surfaces (PES) are considered to elucidate the main traits of the dynamical behavior of the anisotropic interaction (O2-O2).

Furthermore, a comparison between the estate-to-estate inelastic rate coefficients and the experimental data from a supersonic expansion in the subthermal-cold regime [3] will also be discussed as a validity test of one of these PESs.
