1rst "Rencontres des Jeunes Physicien-ne-s” at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris on November 6, 2013

On the French Physics Society initiative, a young team of Ph.D. students in various fields of physics has been working to organize the first edition of this event. The goal of this conference is to gather a generation of young researchers around a wide spectrum of presentations of today’s issues in physics.

The presentations will be given exclusively by young researchers (phd students or post-docs). They will give an overview, accessible to non-specialists, of a particular area of physics, as well as a presentation of personal results. This will involve reconciling pedagogy and scientific requirements, two critical skills in today’s research.

In order to facilitate interactions, a poster session will be organized, as well as a friendly and casual evening party in a bar.

No financial contribution is requested, moreover some doctoral schools agreed to count participation to the congress as a training day.

This is a great opportunity to meet your colleagues and future colleagues and to present your work in an unusual way, or simply to come and (re)discover a fascinating multi-faceted field !

We are looking forward to seeing you on the 6th of November,

Practical Information

Every piece of information is available on our website :http://rjp.sfp-paris.fr/ .

The deadline for abstract submission is October 13.

Nous vous encourageons d’ores et déjà à vous préinscrire en remplissant ce court formulaire.

We strongly encourage you to already pre-register online by completing this form.

Talks format

Talks shall not take more than 20‘ (including questions). Particular attention shall be paid to pedagogy and speakers are invited to put their subjects in perspective. The presentation shall be accessible by an audience of physicists, unspecialized in the field of research.

Abstracts for posters and talks shall follow this template and fit in one page, including figures and references. They shall present shortly the field of research and make a precise description of the work presented.

The selection will focus on the clarity of the abstract and quality of the research presented, but by no means on the quantity of published results.
